Supporting Children with Cancer
SunriseLive! raises crucial funds for Sunrise Day Camps in Long Island and Pearl River. These camps provide summer camps and year-round programs specifically designed for children with cancer and their siblings. The programs offer a safe, supportive environment where children can experience the joy of camp activities while receiving the care and attention they need.
Making a Difference
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunrise Association supported over 7,000 children through its various programs. The organization has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability, continuing to serve families even during challenging times. Through virtual camps, activity packets, and online resources, Sunrise Association has ensured that children with cancer and their siblings continue to receive support and connection.
Adapting During the Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unique challenges for all of us, but children with cancer were isolated long before the pandemic began. Sunrise Association recognized this reality and quickly adapted its programs to meet the needs of these vulnerable children. Through innovative virtual programming, the organization has maintained its mission of providing joy, support, and connection to children and families facing cancer.
A Medical Task Force has been working diligently on reopening criteria for 2021 camps, ensuring that when in-person programs resume, they do so with the highest standards of safety and care. The virtual option will continue to be available for children who are too sick to attend in-person, ensuring that no child is left behind.
